The Open Snooker Classics was the brainchild of the Late Fredrick Olufemi Robinson aka “The Village Headmaster”, an alias coined from his role in the popular 80s Village Headmaster TV series. As an avowed Snooker/Billiards lover, the Late Fredrick Olufemi Robinson curated the biggest Snooker tournaments the country has seen over the years. The most famous being the Nigerian and British Airways Classics which saw a lot of clubs and lovers of the game come together to compete for bragging rights and prizes in the late 90s. Until his death, the Late Fredrick Olufemi Robinson was an active member of the Snooker & Billiards Section of Lagos Country Club, Ikeja; a member of the Billiard and Snooker Association of Nigeria (BASAN) and a promoter of the sport in Nigeria.
